TickPic ("we", "us") helps you identify ticks, learn how to stay safe, and track tick findings. We built TickPic to be private by design. This policy explains what happens to your information.
TickPic is local-first. Your scans, sighting logs, bite logs, profiles, and settings are stored only in the app on your device. We have no account system and no login. Other than the subscription processing and AI identification described below, no server of ours collects your personal data.
When you scan a tick, your photo is sent securely to our AI processing partner, Anthropic (the makers of Claude), to identify the species. The image is used only to return a result — it is not stored on our servers, and Anthropic does not use it to train AI models. We ask for your consent before your first scan. If you are offline, a basic check runs on your device instead and nothing is sent. Results are educational guidance, not a medical diagnosis.
The camera is used only for scanning a tick. A photo is sent for identification as described above and isn't kept unless you choose to attach it to a sighting you log. Location is used only when you tap "Use my location" to tag a sighting, and is stored with that sighting on your device.
TickPic Premium is an optional subscription sold through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple processes your payment — we never see your card or payment details. We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and verify your Premium status. RevenueCat receives your purchase history and an anonymous, app-generated identifier (not your name or email). This information is used only to provide Premium and is never used for advertising or to track you across other apps or websites.
The in-app map shows example sightings plus the finds you log yourself; today these stay on your device. If we launch a shared community map in the future, any sighting you choose to submit would become visible to other users — we will update this policy and request your consent before that happens.
Map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap/CARTO and fonts from Google Fonts to display the map and interface; those providers receive standard network requests (such as the map area being viewed). Scan identification uses Anthropic, and subscriptions use Apple and RevenueCat, as described above. We do not use advertising or third-party analytics trackers, and we never sell your data.
TickPic is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
You can permanently erase everything stored by TickPic at any time from Profile → Delete all my data. This cannot be undone.
TickPic is an educational tool, not a medical or diagnostic device. If you feel unwell after a tick bite, contact a healthcare professional.
